“Live everyday like it is your last” says everyone on posts, memes and cool t-shirts. Truth is, we never know when that last moment will arrive, the one after which you are no more. Some endings are planned, prepared, accompanied. Some others are abrupt, sudden, severe. This past June, due to circumstances beyond our control, our beautiful space in the jungle, where Kitchen Table Tulum had lived for nearly five years, became unexpectedly and permanently unavailable.
After recovering from that punch in the face, and what it meant for both our restaurants, Tulum and San Jose del Cabo, we found a silver lining in embracing this unforeseen change. We realized that what we had received was the opportunity to start over, the gift of having to question everything. Change isn’t just something that happens—it’s the driving force behind our greatest transformations. Propelling us to innovation, to reshape and refine what we do, and to ignite creativity. And also, comfort zones are overrated.
We started by shaking up the familiar, questioning our limits, and in that we found new strength. It ended up being the catalyst to sharpen our edges and discover new possibilities as we adapted to the shift around us. We decided to travel lighter so we can go further. To achieve this, it was clear the relevance of letting go, to make room for a new and improved version of ourselves.
The “Kitchen” was always the beating heart of our restaurant, the center stage, just like in any home, the kitchen is where intimacy, caring, and nurturing takes place. Where memories are created and moments last a lifetime. So it seemed only natural to let go of the “Table” and keep the “Kitchen”.
We don’t need a last name, we want to be in first name relationships. That is what we are keeping, our true love for Food & People. We are stripping down, keeping our drive to present amazing food and drinks with high quality ingredients in a cozy and casual environment. We also decided to keep our focus and our forces in gorgeous and promising San Jose del Cabo exclusively, for now.
We want to be the place where coming several times or often, feels natural and almost like a hug. Where deliciousness is served in the shape of small and big bites, and it is too hard not to get one of each. Not an “it” place or “the” place, we want to be YOUR place. The spot you can’t wait to visit to have that special thing you really love. We want to be always shortlisted for your special occasions, where you bring your special people, definitely one of your top-favorites-of all time, a classic to your heart.
We are very excited for what is coming. With every renewal, we’re not just adapting; we’re improving, evolving, and falling in love with our craft all over again. See you in the Kitchen!
